FILM APPLICATION
1.
Do not apply film on a breezy or windy day. It is hazardous to
both you and the film.
2. Do not stretch the film tightly. Minimize wrinkles, but let
your inflation blower smooth out your film after installation is
complete. If your film is stretched taut on a mild day, it may not
have enough slack available for contraction (shrinkage) on a
cooler day.

FILM
MAINTENANCE
Long life, UV stabilized,
polyethylene film may be cleaned during its useable life with soap
and water. This type of Polyethylene film is relatively rugged and
will resist damage better than most commercial grades of
polyethylene. Sharp objects can puncture or cut the film very
easily, however. If this occurs, repair the damage with Poly-Patch
II film repair tape. Make sure the area around the damage is
clean and dry before applying the repair tape. For small areas,
clean with soap and water or denatured alcohol before applying
tape. For cleaning larger areas, use only soap and water.
EXTENDING
FILM LIFE
You
can get the maximum life out of your film cover by operating your
inflation blower continuously, 12 months a year, to keep film
firmly stable.
Exhaust fans (at least one stage)
should be left to operate automatically throughout the year even
though your greenhouse is unoccupied or not being used to grow
plants.
For example: You may turn
off your evaporative cooler and single speed fans but keep your
two-speed fan on automatic operation. Set the thermostat to a
higher operating temperature than normal if your greenhouses are
empty (approx. 95 degrees).
The header pipe should be flushed out
at the beginning of each season by removing the pipe plug at the end
of the header and operating the system.
PUMP & RESERVOIR
The reservoir will need to be cleaned at the beginning of
each cooling season and filled with clear water. The reservoir will
need to be cleaned more often in areas with lots of wind blown
particles (dirt, etc.). If a magnetic field generator is used on the
system to remove or prevent calcium deposits on the pads, the system
will need cleaning more often to remove calcium sediment.
