QUESTION:
Can I install the greenhouse myself?
SOLUTION:
Here is some information that may help you decide that for yourself.
The construction of greenhouses is not especially complicated or
technical, you do however need to be familiar with the use of a variety
of hand and power tools. You need to have a good idea of how the
finished greenhouse will look as there may be gaps in the instructions
that you will have to fill with your own ingenuity. You need to consider
the time factor as well. In most cases an experienced crew will complete
the job several times faster than you will. This means you will have a
functioning greenhouse at a much earlier date. Can you afford to take
the time away from your normal duties to do the construction or will
your business suffer in your absence. Again this is a decision you will
have to make on your own. I hope that these considerations will help you
with your decision.

QUESTION: My Cooler is running
hot. It cuts off for about five minutes and then runs for another few
minutes.
SOLUTION:
This question arises most frequently with new cooler installations.
The cause is fiber that is released from new cooling pads.
This fibrous material builds up in the
reservoir and is then pumped into the 'Y" strainer, eventually clogging
the supply line.
Once the supply line is clogged, the
water pump overheats and shuts down.
When operating a cooling system with
newly installed pads, the "Y" strainer must be checked and cleaned
regularly until the pads stop releasing debris into the system.
It is probably advisable to check the
"Y" strainer daily during the first several weeks of operation.
For regular maintenance follow the
instructions supplied with your cooler or see the instructions in this
catalog in the "Service & Installation" section.

QUESTION: My
Versa-Vent motor is cooked. I just bought it a month ago and it keeps
tripping the breaker.
SOLUTION:
Improper installation is the source of this problem. When the rack
and pinion gearing or the vent door is misaligned the motor is forced to
work against resistance it was not designed for.
Be sure that your Versa-Vent rack and
pinion gearing is absolutely square. Opening your vent to its maximum
will exaggerate any misalignment present in the gearing. This is one way
to check for misalignment, but it will destroy your vent motor if the
misalignment is not corrected.
Misalignment of the vent door causes one
end (side) of the vent to reach full closure before the other end
(side). This places excessive resistance against the motor rotation as
it attempts to force the already closed side to move even farther.
If your vent motor trips your breaker
even once, be sure to check the alignment of gearing and vent door to
prevent motor damage.
You can reduce motor wear
during the summer by opening the vent and switching the motor off.

QUESTION: I used
Poly-Patch on my new greenhouse and it came off just a few months later.
SOLUTION:
New polyethylene has a slippery chemical applied at the factory
(much like machine oil on metal) to keep film from sticking together.
This oily substance must be washed off with soapy water before applying
Poly-Patch.
Although Poly-Patch has a strong, bonding
adhesive, it cannot work properly unless the surface is clean and oil
free.

QUESTION: It seems
to take forever for my exhaust fans to get up to speed. Sometimes they
even seem to slow down when doors open or close.
SOLUTION:
Check the tension on your fan drive belts. It's particularly
important to check belt tension on new fans or new belts on old fans as
they will stretch a bit under initial use until they reach their
operational size.
While your checking tension, inspect the
belt for cracking or cuts. If the side of the belt is shiny, apply some
belt dressing as a temporary fix until the belt can be replaced.
